Cleanest beach in Italy

The coast along Tuscany stretches from Massa Carrara to Orbetello. Thereof, the “home beach” of holiday home Podere Palazzone is the Costa degli Etruschi. It heads from Livorno in the north down to Piombino for about 90. This is probably the most beautiful stretch of coast in Tuscany. Its beaches have been awarded the Bandiera Blu (Blue Flag) seal of quality. This means, they are among the cleanest beaches in Italy.

Etruscan Coast

In the north, from Livorno to Castiglioncello, waves crash against rough cliffs There are picturesque small bays and ledges that invite you to swim and dive. Further south, the popular white beach Spiagge Bianche of Vada adds a touch of Caribbean to the coast of Tuscany. Finally, from Cecina to Follonica beaches are flat and sandy, ideal for family holiday. Here are the splendid pine forests with the famous beaches of Bibbona, Donoratico, San Vincenzo and Venturina. At the Bay of Baratti, the coast is particularly beautiful and clean, embedded in Etruscan and Roman excavations. On the cliff, the little town of Populonia watches over the beach. This is the best place to enjoy the sunset over Elba Island which is just a couple of km aways. This will be one of those moments that you inevitably fall in love with Tuscany. If after all that you still are in need for more sea-experience, then, on the way back to our holiday home, you can stop off at one of the excellent fish restaurants on the coast.

A breath of seafaring and wide world can be experienced around the port of Livorno. Also, the prestigious Accademia Navale is based there. Its magnificent sail training ship Amerigo Vespucci, the pride of the Italian Navy, is often anchored here.

More beach in Tuscany

Guests looking for even more beaches can take the ferry from Piombino to Elba Island. This is a very nice day trip from holiday home Podere Palazzone. Furthermore, they might love the picturesque fishing villages further south, such as Castiglione della Pescaia near Punta Ala or Orbetello close to Monte Argentario peninsula.

Our beaches in Tuscany don’t offer only relaxation and entertainment. They are also a great places to enjoy nature. Most beaches on Costa degli Etruschi are covered by the typical Pinete, the pine forests. There, the scent of huge pine trees, whose crowns are stretched out like parasols, spread Mediterranean feelings. Large areas of the coast are nature reserves and definitely to be seen. For example, the Parco Naturale San Rossore in front of Pisa with its pink flamingos. The same goes for the marshes of the Parco Regionale della Maremma. The beaches in Tuscany are worth a visit also during in colder months. Because this is when peace has returned on the coast, giving more space to disclose its beauty.

Tell us what kind of beach you are looking for and we will be happy to recommend the right one for you and your family.
