Years old Oak
In 1492, Columbus lost his way on the high seas and discovered America. A few years later, Martin Luther triggered an unprecedented Reformation with posting his 95 theses on church door in Wittenberg. Sometime in between, in tranquil Pomarance, our oak tree sprouted.
With common formulas, the age of trees can be estimated from the circumference of the trunk. According to this, our oak is about 500 years old. It is one of the oldest catalogued trees in the municipality of Pomarance and is protected by the Environmental Authority. What has this tree all been through? Who might have arranged to meet under its branches. Can you imagine how many parties have been celebrated in its shade? And what would our oak think, if it could, with its wisdom accumulated over so many years, think about our present generation?
With a little bit of open mind, you can wonderfully be inspired by our oak. Sit on the roots, with your back against the trunk, and reflect or fantasize. Maybe you come up with a nice story to tell your children or your partner. If you draw energy from embracing trees, you can try it out with several people around the oak. How about a tree hug for the whole family?/p>
